Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic School is accredited by Cognia, formerly known as AdvancED. Cognia is a global network of educators that help schools engage in continuous improvement, so that all students have the opportunities that knowledge brings. This is done by bringing outside perspectives to help leaders to understand where schools excel, and where they need to focus to meet tomorrow’s students’ needs.
As an organization, Cognia, is dedicated to providing service and support for schools to improve what they do to help students learn. They are governed by an independent Board of Directors and an executive team dedicated to these values, strategic direction, and a commitment to focusing on the ultimate outcome for students.
Cognia assembles a team of intensively trained volunteers who are familiar with the region and challenges of the school. This team works onsite with the stakeholders to do their own evaluation. This team is headed by a Lead Evaluator who helps the school prepare for the process. This process is repeated every five years.
