Campus Re-Opening Updates
Creating a Plan for Re-Opening our Campus
As we move toward the goal of reopening our campus this fall, we'd like to share with you the steps we're taking to offer a safe and enriching environment while continuing to keep our Catholic values a priority, especially care for the most vulnerable among us.
The most pressing questions on everyone’s minds have been how and when will we return to campus? In order to determine the answers to these questions, the school has formed a task force to consider the many possibilities and to create a plan for safely reopening the campus. In addition to this core committee, other members of the community will be asked to lend their expertise and advice to us. We aim to be proactive in anticipating and meeting the needs of our students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners.
While we can’t predict the future impact of COVID-19, we are optimistic that if conditions allow us to gather this fall, we will return to school prepared and committed to offering our entire school community a healthy and safe environment.
Update for June 18, 2020:
This week, members of our administration met with parent focus groups on a distance learning option for the 2020-21 school year for Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic School. The feedback was extremely valuable and helpful to us. Thank you to all those who attended these meetings to give us your ideas. We will be providing parents with additional information about these plans in mid-July for you to review and consider.
We are currently awaiting information from Governor Cooper on July 1 as to requirements for schools to open and with what guidelines. Our Reopening StMM Task Force has been working to ensure we are prepared for all aspects of this for the safety of our students, faculty, and families, while providing the experience you have come to expect at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic School.
We have set the target date of July 24 to announce our plans for the 2020-21 school year to allow parents and teachers to adequately prepare.
Health & Safety
The health and safety of our students, families, and faculty is paramount, and we will continue to make data-informed decisions based on the research, advice and regulatory protocols from the CDC, state and county health officials, and the Diocese of Raleigh.
