Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh swimmer Bryan Henry is one of four North Carolina Special Olympics athletes who have been chosen to represent the United States in the upcoming Special Olympics World games.

"I am looking forward to meet new friends around the world," Henry said with his trademark smile.

Henry is fresh off a trip to the United States Games in Seattle, where he took home three gold medals.

"I got my gold medal and I raised my arms. I looked at my coaches and my parents," said Henry.

"I'm ecstatic," said Special Olympics North Carolina swimming coach Chris Underwood. "I was happy that he went to nationals but to get accepted to go to the World Games is phenomenal."

Henry also competes with the Raleigh Area Masters swim team. It's a true example of inclusion and a chance for him to swim in a more traditional environment. He is one of the best swimmers on the team and one of the most popular because of the positive attitude he brings to the pool.
